My Awesome Summer Reading List 2021 -- August update

Because I started tutoring online this summer, my reading time has decreased significantly. However, I am still finding time to sit down and go through these books.

In addition, some of my students have books to read, and I am now reading to help them write reviews and prepare for essays.

For instance, “The Poet X” by Elizabeth Acevedo is one that I am thoroughly enjoying, and it was recommended to me by a student. I will write a review of it once I finish.

So, with some of these I am re-reading, others are new.

“Candide” by Voltaire.

“Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen

“The Poet X” by Elizabeth Acevedo, reading

“The Johnstown Flood” by David McCullough, re-reading

“American Scoundrel: Simon Cameron, Lincoln’s Scandalous Secretary of War” by Paul Kahan

“The Great Santini” by Pat Conroy, abandoned after 2/3

“Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Bronte

“To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee (re-read), read

“The Final Days” by Robert Woodward and Carl Bernstein, completed March 2021

“The Power and the Glory” by Graham Greene, completed April 26, 2021
